COVID-19: Nigeria Records 18 New Deaths, 122 Cases Across Eight States, FCT

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has reported 122 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country.

The agency also confirmed 18 new COVID-19 related deaths in the country.

The NCDC disclosed this on its official Twitter handle on Thursday.

According to the NCDC, the 122 new cases and 18 deaths were recorded from eight states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Lagos recorded 105 new cases, Imo – 4, Kaduna – 4, Akwa Ibom–3, FCT –2 while Delta, Rivers, Oyo and Ekiti each reported one new infection.

The NCDC says this latest report includes “Six states with 0 cases reported: Plateau, Nasarawa, Sokoto, Ogun, Osun and Ondo and backlogs of data due to ongoing data harmonisation from Lagos, Delta and Benue States.

According to the health agency, the 122 new COVID-19 infections have brought the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country to 166,682.

The health agency also noted that 162,521 COVID-19 patients have so far recovered and have been discharged in the country.

The NCDC reported that with the 18 new COVID-19 related deaths, the fatality toll from the virus is now 2,117

It said that a multi-sectoral national Emergency Operations Centre, activated at Level 3, had continued to coordinate the national response activities.
